This tiny little restaurant off Edgware Road offers Persian cuisine. They have a few squeezed tables downstairs and a few more upstairs. It has been around for many years and was one of the earlier Persian restaurants.

The seating is tight as mentioned which became slightly annoying after the waiter bumped me for the 50th time as he kept going passed me.

Fresh Bread, Homous, Pickles & Yogurt

Bring on the Cuisine…

We started of with some “Homous” which was home made and tasted more like chick pea paste and obviously did not have the correct ratio of chick pea, tahini and garlic. The pickles and garlic yoghurt were ok but the bread was great, fresh and soft and quite large.

Koobideh & Boneless Chicken

I ordered the “Koobideh with Joojeh” which is a skewer of boneless chicken and a skewer of lamb mince kebab. I found both to be rather disappointing, both dry and not particularly tender and juicy, the Koobideh apart from being dry had a weird flavour which I have never come across in the many Persian restaurants I have tried, The chicken again dry, and sprinkled with herbs which I don’t think is a good idea when grilling chicken and can tend to over power the chicken and make it too herby, I prefer the mild saffron style chicken which they do not do here.

Grilled Wings & Rice

My buddy got the “Grilled Wings & Rice”, he liked them more than I did but we both agreed that they were a bit over done and nothing to really shout about. Wings in this day and age gave become a very popular item on menu menus and there are some seriously great options out there, but this was rather average. And again a bit too herby and dry.

Patogh has its own following and has been popular over the years but in my opinion has not kept up with the ever increasing standards within Londons restaurants.

All the food is halal and no alcohol is served, space is very tight and they do not take bookings.

Passionate about food, life....Hahaha only joking, Too cliche. I do very much enjoy good food though & I have always searched meticulously for better halal restaurants, take aways, snacks etc. So I decided to start putting it on the Interweb.
