Two Buns

American Burgers

A nice local burger joint based in Harrow, Greater London. I like the way they have decorated and branded the restaurant, it has a modern American vibe and proud to be halal with big halal certified stickers on the windows and their actual certificate framed on the wall. All food is halal and no alcohol or non-halal items are served here.

The menu is to the point and hasn’t been filled just for the sake of it, there is  a section of beef burgers, a chicken burger, a few veggie options and what you would expect in terms of sides and extras. The burgers here rather than usual 4oz-6oz patties instead have two thinner 3oz patties which makes for a juicy burger and changes the dynamics of the burger compared to many other “gourmet” joints.

So whats it like….

You can tell some planning has gone into the menu and the construction of the burgers, they are layered perfectly with the right amount of lettuce, tomato, cheese etc and the two patties nicely placed within the soft semi-brioche bun.

The patties being quite thin all come well done and there is no option to have them cooked “medium” or any other way. The meat tasted fresh and was cooked very nicely with a slightly charred edge and juicy inside. My only gripe is that the beef itself had a very distinct fatty flavour which is probably to do with the cuts of beef used to make the patties or the meat/fat ratio. When overly fatty cuts of beef are used to make burger patties the fat flavour masks the delicious beef flavour to some degree. (Im not saying that is being done here but there is room for improvement and I would love it if the patties would be tweaked slightly as everything else is on point)

I had the “better burger” which is priced at £5.95 which is not bad and is the cheapest burger, other burgers range from £6-£9.45 depending on toppings and number of patties.

We also tried the boneless buffalo wings which are actually chicken breast pieces cooked and coated with buffalo sauce which were very nice, sticky and dripping with lovely buffalo sauce. Slightly crispy outer and juicy tender chicken.

The service was okay, nothing to write about. The interior was nice, bright and well decorated but one thing which I did not like was the constant level of smoke and smell coming from the kitchen area which must be because of the inadequacy of the their extraction fans.

We left with a couple of miIk shakes which took ages but were rather nice. I will definitely visit again, I hope their attention to detail stays consistent and hope some tweaks are made with the patties which in our opinion would elevate their burgers to a very high level.

Passionate about food, life....Hahaha only joking, Too cliche. I do very much enjoy good food though & I have always searched meticulously for better halal restaurants, take aways, snacks etc. So I decided to start putting it on the Interweb.
